About Prayer Room, Friday Prayers & Maintenance for You

Prayer Related Facilities Available for You at the Campus

This prayer room and Wudu facility is provided by the University for QUT students and staff to offer our required prayers. The Muslim Chaplain/Imam at QUT, along with the Muslim Chaplain’s Volunteers Team, organize and do maintenance matters related to Muslim Students’ and Staff worship matters at the University. Below is a more detailed list of these worship related matters that are available for you at the Uni and please join the email and SMS list at the Muslim Chaplain’s website so we can inform you of ongoing updates related to Muslims’ prayer and worship matters at the Uni Campus.

  • Weekly Friday Prayers (Jumu’ah)
  • Prayer Rooms & Wudu facilities for brothers and sisters at Kelvin Grove (KG) and Gardens Point (GP) Campuses.
  • Daily obligatory prayers at the Prayer Rooms that are due during the Uni time
  • Ramadan Taraweeh prayers and some Iftars
  • If your exams clash with your Friday Prayers or such religious obligations, you can email the Muslim Chaplain at QUT to write you a letter acknowledging that so that you can present that letter to the appropriate University body to seek a rescheduling of your exam or class. Essential Prayer Room Maintenance Donations Needed from You to Keep Prayer Room Open

In addition to Uni regular cleaning of general use premises, we need to organize additional cleaning and maintenance of Muslim worship areas (prayer rooms and wudu) to keep them clean given the heavy usage by our high number of Muslim students. Our budget for this yearly maintenance work is $7,500 per year (including monthly steam cleaning, weekly vacuuming, dusting, tidying, etc of prayer and wudu areas, minimizing odours in Wudu area by a variety of means, cleaning of sisters’ prayer clothes, year-long hiring of storage space for Musalla & Ramadan need items, etc.). The only way we can do all this is via your donations. Without these donations, we cannot have the prayer room clean enough to have permission to use it. So, please donate to meet our yearly Prayer Room related budget that is essential for our continuing use of the prayer room.
